Thomas F. Barrett Sr., President

With more than 33 years adjusting experience, Tom Barrett Sr. has exceptional knowledge and understanding of the business. He is currently licensed as an independent adjuster handling daily residential and commercial claims in a multi-state area. Although T. Barrett & Associates is based in Louisville, Kentucky, daily claims business is not always limited to the greater Kentucky area. Should situations arise that require long distance travel, Tom Sr. will do so at the request of the insurance company. Tom Barrett Sr. has extensive experience handling claims throughout the country and has processed thousands of claims resulting from the most devastating catastrophes in U.S. history. His experience includes Hurricane Hugo in 1989 (Charleston, SC), Hurricane Andrew in 1992 (Miami, FL), the Storm of the Century in 1993 (Tampa, FL), the 1994 Northridge Earthquake (Los Angeles, CA), the 2001 World Trade Center Attacks (NYC, NY), Hurricane Katrina in 2005 (New Orleans, LA) and Hurricane Ike in 2008 (Galveston, TX).

Tom began his career in 1976, working as a residential multi-line adjuster in Dayton, Ohio for Economy Fire and Casualty. He subsequently worked at Prudential Property and Casualty in Cincinnati, Ohio, as a Senior Property Claims Representative where he assisted in developing the curriculum for training new adjusters in the region. Tom has also managed several contracting companies specializing in insurance restoration projects. He holds a BA from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and has comprehensive education in property estimating, arson investigation, liability and policy interpretation. He is a member of the National Association of Catastrophe Adjusters (NACA).

 

Thomas F. Barrett Jr., Vice President of Claims Operations

Tom Barrett Jr. was introduced to the claims adjusting industry in 1992 when he began a four-year apprenticeship with Tom Barrett Sr. A licensed independent adjuster, he currently oversees the claims operations at T. Barrett & Associates. His in-depth understanding of property insurance policy and the claims adjusting business is a direct result of comprehensive field experience. Licensed to handle daily residential and commercial claims in a multi-state area, his territory is not necessarily limited to the company headquarters in Louisville, Kentucky. At the request of the insurance company, Tom will travel long distance for special situations. He's handled claims across the country including, but not limited to, Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina. His in-depth experience and industry knowledge are supported by his ability to work efficiently with the utmost professionalism. His experience includes the 1994 Northridge Earthquake (Los Angeles, CA), the 2001 World Trade Center Attacks, (NYC, NY), Hurricane Isabel in 2003 (Outer Banks, NC), Hurricane Katrina in 2005 (New Orleans, LA) and the 2007 Nor’Easter (Portland, ME).

Committed to a high standard of excellence, Tom established the company methodology for processing claims and is dedicated to continual improvement as new technology in the industry emerges. Tom manages the quality control program at TBA Claims, with regular audits of open and closed files. He also supervises field staff, facilitates the adjuster training program and ensures that every adjuster’s performance meets company expectations. Tom holds a degree from Sullivan College in Louisville, Kentucky.

 

Katherine Barrett Block, Vice President of Administration

A licensed independent adjuster, Katherine Block has been managing the administrative functions of the company since 2000. Prior to entering the family business, Katherine enjoyed a professional career as a staff geologist in the environmental remediation industry. Trained to resolve soil and groundwater contamination issues, her understanding of regulatory requirements and account management skills translate effectively in the insurance industry. Katherine oversees the daily front and back office functions, including daily communication with clients, customers and staff. She also is the primary point of contact for claim assignments, status reporting, invoicing and managing inventory. Her experience includes Hurricane Isabel in 2003 (Outer Banks, NC), Hurricane Charlie in 2004 (Kissimmee, FL), Hurricane Katrina in 2005 (New Orleans, LA) and Hurricane Wilma in 2006 (Miami, FL). She holds a degree in Geology from the University of Dayton in Dayton, Ohio
